Can blogroll affect your PageRank?

Filed in: Make Money Online by admin on 08-01-09

Personally for me based on my experience, yes! But here’s Google official stance on it.

Remiz Rahnas from Kerala, India asks:

“I keep a “blogroll” page with link to all my friends’ blogs on my blog. Will that affect my blog’s reputation in Google? Recently my friend lost PR5 to 0 for such a page.”

Blogroll is a list of blogs on a blog (usually placed in the sidebar of a blog) that reads as a list of recommendations by the blogger of other blogs.

PageRank is PageRank is a link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page, used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is also called the PageRank of E and denoted by PR(E).
