FTC on the hunt for ‘Dishonest Bloggers’

Do you get freebies? Well FTC is watching you!

Do you get freebies? Well FTC is watching you!

It seems that the Federal Trade Commission ain’t too happy about bloggers who receive freebies for a review in return.

That’s not the issue of course, but the fact that the bloggers did not disclose they got the stuff for free.

Yes FTC wants full disclosure on the product received, and this extends to those Twitter bloggers too.

So FTC is monitoring bloggers and Twitter users who promote some product without telling people they were paid to promote it, and they will take “some sort of action” it seems.

Expect FTC new guidelines, to be out this summer on how agencies are to liaise with bloggers, the compensation, claims, disclosure and such.

Oh bummer, this is beginning to be a pain in the ass.
