Limit your plugins

I’ve been using WordPress for quite a while now, and I’ve plenty of hang-time with it. My advice if your WP is sluggish, then you could improve the blog performance with lesser plugins. Yup it’s not having more than makes your blog better, but lesser in fact.

It will make the already bloated WordPress less bloated. With lesser plugins also means less hassle to upgrade and maintaining it. Since I received a couple of email from my host of overuse of server CPU resources, I decided to ‘trim’ my WordPress ASAP. Any blog downtime ain’t good of course, as I’ll be losing money.

Currently I’m already using WP-Supercache, so I’m all out of options to make my blog uses lesser CPU load. The only method is removing redundant plugins for which I can ‘live’ without on the blog. With the plugins removed, I also need to update my theme for certain plugins, ya know to update the coding, so as the parsing won’t be screwed-up.

And the outcome … so far so good, my WordPress seems slightly faster, more responsive, and hopefully no more emails from my server host.

Here’s a list of plugins I’m currently using at this blog:

  1. Adsense-Deluxe
  2. Akismet
  3. All in One SEO Pack
  4. AntiVirus
  5. Contact Form 7
  6. FeedBurner FeedSmith
  7. Google XML Sitemaps
  8. Limit Login Attempts
  9. NoSpamNX
  10. Pagebar2
  11. Post Thumb Revisited
  12. Recent Posts
  13. Redirection
  14. Related Posts
  15. runPHP
  16. SRG Clean Archives
  17. Wordpress Download Monitor
  18. Wordpress Firewall
