Microsoft click fraud

Three people has accused of “click-fraud” against Microsoft.

The company has filed a civil complaint against them in U.S. District Court in Seattle, and they want $750,000 in damages.

The damages amounts to Microsoft’s efforts in fixing automated attacks on their ad server and the reputation damaged from the click fraud.

It seems the three accused is the mastermind behind a click fraud scam, where they generate invalid clicks to inflate their profit on the Microsoft ad Network.

They were inflating traffic spikes for niches in auto insurance and the game World of Warcraft.

Microsoft in the filing says, “advertising campaigns of their competitors, obtained increased user traffic for their own ads at a much lower cost than they could have otherwise, and caused substantial damage to Microsoft, which has lost revenues.”

Well as they say, if you do the crime, you’ll do the time.
