More lawsuits coming in over Google recent trademark policy changes

Oh boy, I don’t know what Google was thinking when they made such a policy change, but they’re in a heap of trouble as lawsuits are keep coming in.

Companies be it small to giants such as the likes of American Airlines and Geico have filed a class-action suit against Google in federal court.

Such trademark owners are citing that their brands are being abused and it confuses their customers, which would lead to higher overhead cost for their business.

The change of policy now makes Google similar to Yahoo’s where it allows trademarks to be used in text ads with restrictions. The restrictions would limit the use of trademarks in text ads to three types of companies: resellers, component sellers, and information providers.

Well I don’t know what the outcome in court will be like, but if the policy remains, one thing is for sure, it will drive bidders to bid higher than usual for keywords and it will drive more sales and a more expensive advertising. It might just be good news for publishers like me eh.
